About Us

Resilient Youth & Community and SeaLevel

Resilient Youth & Community (RYC), formerly known as Residential Youth Care, has supported Alaskan youth and families through prevention and behavioral health services since 1989. Our mission is to advocate for and foster the safety and well-being of youth at risk and their families so they may lead productive, fulfilling lives.

What began as a five-bed therapeutic foster home in Ketchikan has grown into an accredited organization providing residential treatment, outpatient therapy, and community-based programs for youth ages 11–21 across Southeast Alaska. RYC’s trauma-informed and evidence-based services promote resilience, stability, and connection for youth and families.

Building on this foundation, RYC is preparing to launch SeaLevel, a new community center for youth ages 15–21. SeaLevel will offer a welcoming, inclusive space where young people can access support, build relationships, and engage in meaningful activities that promote mental health, belonging, and purpose.

Our goal is to expand access to essential resources while addressing the challenges that put youth at risk.

We’re increasing safety, connection, opportunity, and support so young people can thrive.

At the same time, we’re working to reduce homelessness, substance misuse, violence, and food insecurity, empowering the next generation to build a stronger, healthier future for themselves and their communities.

SeaLevel will be an 11,000-square-foot youth center designed to help young people learn, connect, and grow. The space will include flexible offices, meeting rooms for mentorship and collaboration, and a commercial kitchen offering nutritious meals.

With showers, laundry, family-style dining, and a welcoming community café, SeaLevel will provide a safe and comfortable place where youth feel at home. Tutoring and training areas will support education and job readiness, while creative studios will inspire innovation and self-expression. Lounges and Zen Dens will offer calm spaces for rest and reflection, creating a well-rounded environment where young people can build skills, confidence, and community.

Ready to invest in the future?

SeaLevel is shovel-ready, and construction will begin once fundraising is complete. When work starts, the center is expected to be ready within 9 to 12 months.

Our comprehensive support systems build lasting protective factors that transform individual lives and strengthen the entire community. This investment in youth will create a ripple effect of positive change, benefiting Ketchikan’s young people and future generations for years to come.
